Rome wasn't built in a day
It was built by wise stoic & blood-thirsty Conquerors Patient stoics consolidated & maintained order Megalomaniacal Conquerors expanded &dominated But how many could do both? A handful - Augustus - Tiberius - Trajan - Aurelian - ConstantineIt's hard to do both
If you're lucky you can do 1 well
But to truly ascend
Meditating between madness and reason
Both raising your sword in adrenaline combat
& laying foundational bricks in the hot sun
Is the path I'm traversing
How anxiety-racking it is to go into combat
To fight, fight, fight
Until you love to fight
Then you live by the sword
But those who do
Die by the sword
So you must return the painstaking (PAIN PAIN PAIN STAKING) patience
Of laying foundations
Until the warrior is dead
& the stoic is born
A wise man who once said nothing at all
Biting your tongue
Simply building
In mind-numbing boredom & silence
Until you love it
But the man who lives in the castle, never venturing out
Is no king, but a prisoner
Imprisoned by his quiet routines
& that routine he must break
with great agitation
When the horn of war is blown
He must stand, flex his debilitated muscles
& begin training immediately.
Training until the patient, wise, recluse
Once again is capable of taking hold of the sword.
& waging war.
To a lesser extent we all must do this
From the comfort of the mother's womb
We emerge crying
Baring face to the world
Then we switch, school - structure, routine.
How many hate it?
It's a phase shift, many fail, and few can adapt
But after school again we compete
Competing for jobs, women, business
We pick up the sword
Those who don't smoke weed, video games, virgin. Many such cases (35%+ below 30)
Then those who do
Pick up a job or business & once again enter structure
At each point
One can stop.
At each stop, one ascends higher
But in life
It's not the strongest or smartest who go the furthest
But those who can do the most phase shifts
Win the most.
Velocity of phase shifts/identity changes >>> everything
I'm not the same man who I was at the start of the year
I'm not the same man who I was even 3 months ago
But to phase shift quickly is hard enough
But it's not speed
It's velocity we're after
Which is speed + direction
Making the *right* phase jump over & over
If you are in your comfort zone
You are not phase-shifting
Not just applicable to the nerd
But they also playboy who must become the reclusive
The freedom-loving entrepreneur to one beholden by a board
The muscular jock to the studious nerd
WTF?
Yeah phase shifting is hard
What got you here won't take you there
When you get there, what got you there, won't take you further
A constant flux
Tearing your mind apart
Your identity in flux
Once you realize
You can't help but laugh at the dudes w/ fixed identities
Men who define themselves
- The watch & car they have (flexors)
- The muscles they built (gym bros)
- The money they have (businessmen)
- The women they can get (playboys)
- The books they've read, the knowledge they have (the intellectuals)
Once you become multi-dimensional
You realize while all those things are nice
Holding on to them too dearly cements your identity
As the world changes around you, you're stuck.
I look at Elon Musk (RE -> playboy -> personal brand -> Businessman)
I look at Arnold (Bodybuilder -> Businessman -> movie star -> politician)
I look at Tai Lopez (Farmer -> insurance biz -> nightclubs -> dating aff -> info -> eCom rollup)
All are Phase-shifting machines.
Be One.
